there are hints in the comments in the jpeg and challenges are designed to increase in difficulty ... this is an 80 point problem so it is a more difficult challenge, there are lots of easier ones.

des-ecb doesn't appear to be supported in the current version of openssl? And I can't seem to get the older version installed and working. In fact, trying to install version 1.1.1 has broken my original install as well

Got the older openssl working and managed to solve it. This was very tricky! The tool I was using was trimming out the length from the hex without me realizing and threw off all my keys, sometimes reading the hex raw works out better I suppose. Very fun challenge!

Thanks for badass challenge! It took me a long time but I solved it after applying jpeg format knowledge acquired during research for "Nighthawk" challenge.
